While most people associate the Shamrock with luck, its history is actually rooted in in ancient spirituality, clever teaching metaphors, a bit of rebellion, and is tied to the legend, St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. He utilized the shamrock in the 5th Century to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity. The three leaves of the shamrock and the number 3 were already sacred to the Celts long before St. Patrick influence appeared in Ireland.
